If you’re travelling to Cape Town soon the one area you really need to explore is Woodstock. It’s a neighborhood that is a little industrial and a little bit rough around the edges but WOW it is filled with gems!

Here are five places you have to visit:

1. Old Biscuit Mill

This place is packed to the brim with awesome spots including Espresso lab coffee shop and the famous Pot Luck Club. Also if you’re brave on a Saturday is the Neighborgoods food market if you want to eat something a bit different, buy some fresh flowers and treats for tea.

2. Salt Circle Arcade

Walk over the road to this quieter spot and find some cute interior stores including the Zana studio.

(Close by is also Vamp and Recreate if you’re looking for other nice interior shops to browse)

3. The Creamery Cafe

Go down the road and have a peanut butter cone or a waffle at the Creamery’s second cafe.

4. The Woodstock Exchange

Up the other way on Albert road is another beautiful building packed full of places to eat and shop with a huge emphasis on quality and good design. Try Superette!

5. The Woodstock Foundry

In the same street is yet another awesome block. There is parking (YAY!). Here you’ll find Dear Rae Jewellery and right next door the very trendy hairdresser, The Lobby. Wander around a bit to find Lauren Fowler’s studio, Opus floral designers and Tribe Coffee.

Where to stay:

If you want to stay in the area (as you can see there’s a lot of exploring to do) I’d recommend the Double Tree by Hilton. I stayed there for a night a few months ago and the service and value was fantastic! Their rooms are clean and lovely, they also have an awesome bar/restaurant where they have (really good!) live music on a Tuesday night and quite a delicious selection of cocktails.

They also have a very quirky hotel perk. At any time of a day you can go to reception and get a fresh-from-the-oven (!) chocolate chip cookie (and it’s unlimited).

Go here to see their rates and availability and book a trip already!
